A word from the Dean

“The Institut Supérieur du Tourisme, de l’Hôtellerie et de l’Alimentation (the Higher Institute of Tourism, Hospitality Management and Food Studies, or ISTHIA) was founded more than 35 years ago at the Université Toulouse – Jean Jaurès. The current Institute is the result of a move in 2012 to transform the Centre d’Études du Tourisme, de l’Hôtellerie et de l’Alimentation (Centre for Tourism, Hospitality and Food Studies, or CETIA) into ISTHIA. Jean-Louis Zévaco, passionate hotelier for more than 50 years, chairs the Board.

The focus of our activities lies in four key areas:

1. Training managers and experts in three sectors: tourism, hospitality and food (taking on 1,000 students every academic year);
2. Offering continuing education programs;
3. Supporting research activities;
4. Running activities in relation to expertise and value creation.

We have centers in three cities in France—Toulouse, Foix and Cahors—and an international presence in Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, Port Vila in Vanuatu, and Hanoi in Vietnam.
