Start of the 2025 academic year

Welcome Trip, 15–16 September

Right from the start, students took part in two days of activities designed to help them discover their new environment.

On the afternoon of 15 September, the group joined a historical tour of Toulouse, led by Frédéric Zancanaro, Programme Director and Associate Professor in Sociology, Sophie Thiron, Associate Professor in Sociology, and Anne Marcoul-Brune, hospitality professional. The visit provided key insights into the city’s cultural and historical landmarks while encouraging interaction within the group.

On 16 September, students were welcomed at the Domaine Gayda, in the Aude department near Carcassonne, accompanied by Frédéric Zancanaro, Sophie Thiron, and Sylvie Rouillon Valdiguié, consultant and trainer, who also teaches in the Master THFS. The program included a presentation of vineyard and winery work, followed by lunch and a wine tasting. The day concluded with a hike through the Malepère vineyards, offering a concrete introduction to the local area and its production.

The Master THFS

The THFS Master, offered by ISTHIA – University of Toulouse – Jean Jaurès, is a two-year degree taught entirely in English. It is open to French and international students, with or without prior knowledge of French.

The first year provides a common foundation in management, communication, strategy, and research methodology. The second year offers the possibility to specialise in one of three fields: tourism studies, hospitality studies, or food studies.
